On the 15th March at 23:00 our LINX connection will be bought down administratively for network maintenance on the MPLS backbone that serves this connection. 

Traffic will be moved from this connection cleanly before the upgrade, but services should be considered at-risk for the duration of the window.

We have noticed that one of our upstreams - Telia (AS1299) is currently offline in the DC in which we meet them (Interxion), this is believed to be due to power related issues. We will update this notice once our session with them is back online. 

18:48 - We have had no update from Interxion as to the nature of the issue or the length of time in which this should be resolved. We will continue to request updates & monitor the situation. At present there is no reachability impact to our network. 

19:45 - Unfortunately still no word from the DC - we understand this is affecting the entirety of Interxion LON1 and as such is an extremely large service impact so it is likely an 'all hands on deck' situation there. There is still no reachability impact to our network, all services are working as expected. 

20:41 - Although we have nothing official from the DC, there is news coming in that power is being restored. 

21:52 - We still have no update unfortunately, we will continue to monitor the situation. 

22:05 - Our connection to Telia has been restored, Interxion has restored power. We will however continue to closely monitor for any further impact. The DC has confirmed this is an issue with power:

"The site has experienced a failure on multiple power feeds in to the building and despite the generators powering up a failed electronic switchgear has prevented us from switching between mains and the generator. The third party supplier of our electrical switchgear has been engaged and is working with our own engineers and other third party specialists in the datacentre to restore normal operations."

22:14 - We have noticed further interruption to Telia & Interxion, we are going to administratively bring this link down until further notice & until the problem has been proven resolved.

11/1/21 11:00 - The DC has been running steady on utility power throughout the night so we have reinstated our Telia port now.

During an upgrade of our LINX port a mistake was unfortunately made by one of their engineers which resulted in a temporary disruption to any traffic destined for networks via LINX. This is now resolved and steady.

We are currently experiencing a service interruption that's affecting certain VPS customers. Engineers are currently investigating the issue and we'll update this notice in due course.

Update: 13:09 - VMNode4 crashed and restarted, VMs are now booted and investigation into the root cause is underway. 

Update: 13:31 - Our conclusion is that after reviewing the logs, the node encountered a Kernel panic and rebooted. We apologise for the interruption in service.

We will reboot the VPS node 'Endeavour' on Tuesday 19th at 9AM local time. We apologise for the interruption this will cause, this should not last longer than five minutes.

If you have not paid for backups, you will need to login to the client area & rebuild your VPS - our apologies for the interruption.

We will reboot the shared hosting node 'celeborn' on Tuesday 19th at 9AM local time. We apologise for the interruption this will cause, this should not last longer than five minutes.

On Saturday 31st July at 4AM we will be replacing our core router in order to resolve the issues bought about from the previous maintenance window. This will involve a large part of our infrastructure going dark temporarily. This includes shared hosting, VPS, dedicated servers and our website. We do not envisage this will take more than two hours to complete entirely.

At 7:30AM on the 9th July our core router will be rebooted in order to apply required updates. This will cause a brief interruption to networks serviced by this router, which include all AS212806 networks. 

 

PHP Selector Temporarily Unavailable Resolved

The PHP selector within cPanel is currently unavailable on the server Feanor. We are currently investigating the root cause of the issue with the operating system developers. 

Update: Our engineers and the O/S developers are still investigating this. In the interim for any PHP changes please contact support and we'll be happy to make them for you. 

Resolution: The root cause has been found and fixed. The PHP selector is now available for use again. Thank you for your patience.

On Sunday, March 7th we'll be doing some maintenance to install new equipment within our core networking infrastructure. This will result in 2 or 3 minor interruptions to the below services, each should last less than 0.5s

  • Some name servers, but this will not interrupt DNS service
  • VPS clients in the 185.175.x.x subnet

Our network had intermittent connectivity issues from 14:08 - 14:12 caused by an upstream transit partner. This has been resolved but will be closely monitored.

We are currently unable to accept payment via credit or debit card through our usual payment gateway. We're investigating this and will update in due course.

15:44 - We are still trying to resolve this issue. The root of the problem is related to the billing platform that we use and the integration between it and the payment processor that we utilise for card payments. We will continue to endeavour to get this problem resolved. Other payment methods are unaffected. 

 

The fix is to re-add your card details to the client area. Please do so at your earliest convenience.

On Monday 26th at 9:30am the Stratagem website and client area will be unavailable for a short period. This will not affect any of our hosting or other services but the client login area and ticketing system will for a short period of approximately 15-30 minutes be offline. 

This downtime is to facilitate the move to a newer and more modern client area. We have rollback plans in place such that should any unforeseen circumstances occur we can pick up where we left off.

This took some time longer than anticipated due to a problem that we had not anticipated, going forward we're going to use this as a learning experience and not only extend our maintenance windows slightly in order to account for any possible issue, but also to include additional planning and training during major migrations such as this. There is currently an issue with the PHP selector on Feanor. This means that changes to your PHP version or settings are currently unavailable. The team are working on finding the root cause of this and resolving it.

This has been reinstalled and is now working. 

 

Intermittent Network Issues Resolved

We have noticed an intermittent network issue with the server Noldor. This is resulting in websites and the cPanel interface being unavailable. Our engineers are investigating and service will resume as soon as the issue is identified and resolved.

The issue was identified as the being related to the network connectivity on the server itself and this has been restarted, the issue has now been resolved.

An issue currently exists that's preventing the PHP Selector within cPanel from loading properly on feanor.stratagem.host.

Localhost Mail Deliveries Resolved

We have noticed that certain accounts on the server Feanor are unable to send SMTP mail via localhost over port 465. A workaround for this is to temporarily use the hostname of your site instead of localhost, or to use port 25 instead of 465/587. We will update this notice once further updates are available.

The accounts that were affected are able to send using port 587 which is what we recommend for SMTP use. Please let us know if any account has issue utilising this port instead of 465

Domain SSL Status Reporting Resolved

An issue exists within the management software of our server infrastructure that causes the SSL status of domains registered within the client area to show inaccurate information due to a 3rd party tool called cURL. 

As a result of this and the desire to not cause undue alarm through inaccurate information reporting, we're switching this feature off until such a time that a fix is made available by our software vendors.

If in the mean time you see a notice in your client area that suggests that there's no SSL certificate detected, you can check this within your cPanel account itself as well as by navigating to the domain in question in your browser. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to contact support and we'd be more than happy to double check this for you.

The move to a new platform for the www.stratagem.host website has resolved this issue and now the SSL reporting status should show accurately the state of the SSL for your site and/or domains.

At 14:01 on December 10th there was a transient issue with LiteSpeed Web Server that caused some sites hosted on noldor.stratagem.host to not respond to HTTP requests for about one minute.

Whilst the issue seems to be currently resolved, we're in the process of investigating the cause and will update this ticket in due course.

14:19: This issue is entirely resolved. It appears that LSWS crashed at approximately 13:58 and did not restart automatically as per design. As such websites were down for 3 minutes until service resumed. We will continue to monitor this. 

LetsEncrypt Unavailable Resolved

Unfortunately Lets Encrypt are experiencing an issue with their production database which means any requests for new certificates or renewals will fail. Existing certificates will not be affected.

We are aware of an issue affecting login to cPanel on the server Noldor.
